Synopsis
Shame. Loss. Destruction.
Amidst the tumult of World War One, an isolated English village is home to William, who’s already losing.
Losing his marriage, his humanity, and his mind. We watch as he desperately tries to survive. Subjected the unhinged whims of the powerful, watched by those whose isolation captivates and captures.
‘The Unravelling’ is a re-imagination of Georg Büchner’s classic: ‘Woyzeck.’ The original, set in 1830’s Germany explored themes of exploitation, morality, and the impact of social conditioning on the mind as all aim to survive in a cruel and unforgiving world. This modern retelling allows us to see this work through new eyes, inviting us to question the powerful and oppressive forces of a pervasive patriarchy, then and now.
This deeply personal tragedy will stay with you.
